What Pathr is

The boating app a modern owner actually wants to open.

Most boating apps still feel like extensions of the 1990s chartplotter. Dense, fragmented, and forgiving of nothing. Pathr starts from the opposite premise: that owning a boat should feel less like operating a console and more like opening a good app on your phone.

Plan a route in seconds with depth-aware auto-routing. See radar, waves, wind, AIS traffic, and a first-of-its-kind seabed layer on one clean map. Take it all offline before you cast off. And for owners who want a second set of eyes, Pathr Co-Captain (an AI co-pilot in active development) is coming next.

The story

Built by boaters who got tired of "good enough."

Pathr started the way a lot of good products do: out of frustration. The founders are boaters and builders who looked at the state of marine software and asked an obvious question: why does my phone do everything beautifully on land, then fall apart the moment I leave the dock?

The team brings an unusual mix of credentials: a National Test Pilot School graduate, a founding engineer from an automation startup that was later acquired by a $1B+ technology company, and an award-winning innovative product developer. Together they formed SmartSail Inc. to build the modern boating intelligence platform, starting with the Pathr Navigation app today, and continuing with Pathr Co-Captain (an AI co-pilot) in the next chapter.
