Pathr builds marine navigation and connected-boat technology. The consumer app is live on iOS and Android. HelmLink, our onboard hardware now in beta testing, reads a boat's NMEA 2000 network and uploads the readings to Pathr when the unit is online (over Wi-Fi today; a cellular modem is next). On Raymarine Evolution autopilots it also steers, in testing on the water.
That combination is now a product for fleets, and it needs someone to sell it. You would be our first sales hire: the person who finds the first fleet customers, closes the first paid pilots, and builds the motion the rest of the go-to-market team inherits.
What you'll sell
The 60-day Pathr Fleet Pilot: HelmLink hardware plus a centralized fleet dashboard, sold to boat clubs, charter operators, rental fleets, sailing schools, marinas and commercial marine operators.
What an operator gets:
- Vessel location and trip history
- Fleet usage and hours underway
- Geofence alerts when a boat leaves its permitted area
- Route history for every trip
- Engine hours, battery, depth, fuel and RPM telemetry
- One centralized dashboard across the whole fleet
What you'll do
- Find and contact fleet operators: get to owners, GMs and the people who actually decide
- Run outbound: phone, email, LinkedIn and industry networking
- Book and run discovery calls
- Close paid 60-day Pathr Fleet Pilots
- Build partnerships across the marine industry
- Shape pricing, packaging and positioning with us; you'll be closest to the buyer
- Turn what works into a repeatable sales process
Who we're looking for
Three or more years selling B2B, and experience in some combination of the following:
- Marine or boating, fleet management or telematics
- Marine electronics, charter and rental operations, dealerships or marinas
- Comfort selling an early-stage product, before every answer exists
- Direct, straightforward communication with business owners
- The ability to operate independently without a playbook handed to you
Compensation
This is a commission-and-equity role to start. We are being explicit about that rather than dressing it up:
- No base salary initially
- 20% commission on collected revenue from deals you originate and close
- 0.5 to 1.0% equity, depending on experience and long-term involvement
- A path to a salaried leadership role once funding or revenue supports it
Logistics
- Contract role
- Remote anywhere in the United States, or onsite with us in San Diego
- Pacific, Mountain, Central or Eastern time zones preferred
- Overlap hours roughly 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in your time zone
- We are not able to sponsor visas for this role
How to apply
Skip the cover letter. Tell us:
- What you've sold before
- Who you sold it to
- Any relationships you already have in the marine industry
- How you would get Pathr's first three fleet customers
